BALANCE OF ONLINE AND OFFLINE

Anuj is very happy as he got placement in a renowned US company from his campus interview. He belongs to a village named Bhagatpur in Rajasthan. His father is a farmer and mother is a house wife. He has a young brother who is in XIth class. His name is Sanju

Anuj’s father never allowed his son to enter in to the fields, though he wanted to help his father in his field work. His mother too wanted him only to concentrate on studies. They always tried their best not to include their sons in any household work or in any serious family discussions or concerns. They wished their son to succeed in his academic life. The struggle and sacrifice of the parents made Anuj more attached, responsible and emotional to them. He decided that he will also do something big for their parents and will make them rid of their hard work.

During the college Anuj use to visit his home after the end of every semester exam. But this time he is not able to make it as the date of joining was very near. Also he thought he will go USA little early to get familiar with the place and people there. Here in the home the parents and brother was also very happy and encouraged him to move and not to bother about the home.

Anuj got properly settled in the USA. Every Sunday he calls home and talk with his parents and brother. In every call his mother asks to care of his food and health. Whenever Anuj asks about their health, they always say that everything is fine here and not to worry about here. You concentrate on your job and do well.
After 3 months, Anuj transferred some money to home and asked his brother to purchase a laptop and take internet connection. From here, Anuj used to chat with his brother on almost every day and gets the information about parents through him. Sometimes they use to chat with cam with parents around.

After six months of job, Anuj asked for leave from his manager but due to some project deadlines that was not approved. His mother fell ill and she got hospitalized for some days but his brother Sanju did not let him know. During this time he somehow avoided his mother to come in front of the cam.

Anuj again applied for leave. This time he got the leave. He was coming to home after 1.5 years. His brother and father received him on the station. His heart got filled when he saw his father. On the way his brother asks many things about USA and his father was listening silently. The moment Anuj reached home, he was shocked to see his mother standing on the door to receive hm. There was plaster on the left hand of his mother and a cotton cloth was there between her neck and elbow. He looked towards his brother. Sanju understood the reason and lowered his face. His mother smiled and said “come inside”.

He came to know that she slipped in the kitchen and her hands got fractured and they decided not to inform him as this will deviate him from his work. Listening this, his heart was filled and eyes got wet. Next day Anuj was sitting with his parents and brother and he disclosed that some 2 to 3 times he also felt sick but it was only minor so he did not inform them.

In the night, he was laying on the bed but he was not getting the sleep. He was thinking about his mother’s struggle and love for him. Again after a very long time he saw his father working in the field. He followed his father to the field without knowing him and he saw him working from far. Anuj thinks what if he would have told his mother that he was hospitalized in the USA, very seriously for 10 days. No one came to look except the doctor and the nurses. His memory went back to his school days. Once he met with an accident and was hospitalized for 2 days. Within 2 days, so many persons from his school, neighbor and family came to see him. Even when he was released from the hospital, he was surrounded by so many around his bed till he recovered completely.
He has money and living in the most developed country of the world but he is missing the warmth and affection of his mother, home and village. He thinks that only he was hiding the worse from his parents. He never came under the impression that his parents will also hide the worse from him. He feels that this online chat has fooled him and his parents. He would have surely sensed his mother worse condition and his mother would have sensed his conditions if they would have continued their conversation through phone.
He thinks that this online world is not real. This is virtual and somewhat illusionary. This is preplanned and predesigned approach of communication. Basic dishonesty is natural in such type of communication. Again, he starts thinking how to settle his father before leaving for the USA…thinking all this….he got sleep.

The above story and all the characters in it are fictitious and resemblance to anyone is purely coincidental.

Yes, the above story is fictitious, but I am sure that such story is definitely true with many in one or another way.
Technology progressed, we made progress. We made our world shrink on our lap or desk within a room.
With the rapid advancement of the technology, the life style of the people got changed drastically. In urban India most of the people spend their most of the time in front of the plugged in Desktop or Laptop. They remain connected throughout the world and do their most of the daily activities like newspaper, booking movie ticket, shopping , watching movie, chatting with friends or family is done either sitting on the sofa/chair or laying on the bed with laptop in front. Even in the office we are connected with the world. The gap between mental and physical activity gets wider and wider.

But is it that the online world will completely replace the offline world. Talking with friends, family will be replaced by online chat and emoticons will take the place of all Human emotions and expression…? Offline Groups, associations or organization are going to be replaced by online community or groups of orkut and facebook…..?
On the other side,

We use internet and technology for most of our works which saves a lot of time but most of us are always running short of time. We always say “very busy, no time to meet family, friends etc. Most of our times are occupied in mental activities only.

We make friends very easily on orkut , facebook etc but still people do not know their neighbours in his/her apartment or society.

Today people give beautiful presentations, write lovely emails, talk very politely and professionally with their team members but on another side the count of divorces, nuclear families are increasing. Old parents are left to the Old Age Care Centers.

Have good professional team spirit but family spirit is on decline.

Today’s kids spend time playing computer games and compete with other kids for maximum score. When they come to real playground they are tired soon.

The conclusion is we have to move with both the online and offline. Both are very much needed for our mental, physical and materialistic progress. Tilting extremely on one side may lead to dissatisfaction or repentance in life, sooner or later.  A balance is required between them. How and how much is each individual’s decision.

Who is corrupt...? me or You..Part(III)

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not the fish they are after

In the first part of the above topic we recognized the face of the corrupt person and in the second part came to know the available tools to fight corruption.
In this part, last but not the least, let us find out what can be the actual reasons for corruption.

There are two categories of people. One section has raised themselves above the basic struggles of life and another section is still struggling for the basic amenities of life or struggling to make their children fit in another category.

Some do robbery, cheap habits like stealing of money, mobile, belongings etc. In most of the cases these are the same sort of people who are struggling for the basic requirements in their life. Some of the people of this section are also forced to pick up gun to join Naxalism or sometimes they become the means for bigger corruption. They are forced to do corrupt activities to feed their stomach. These can be easily stopped by creating the employment and providing basic amenities.

However the worst is white collar corruption. This is increasing and cannot be resolved unless each individual address themselves. Howsoever the country makes progress, this will be always a big threat because this is something related to individual’s morality and responsibility.

I see in newspapers and news channels that they debate for some action to be taken by government or investigating agency against corrupt officials. But again I would like to know “To whom we are asking to take action..?” Today the situation is so bad that everyone is corrupt, right from the top to bottom.
Who will take action and against whom..? Is it that a corrupt person will take action against another corrupt person……?
Whatever let’s come to the main concern and the concern is why people want to accumulate much more than sufficient wealth
  1.  Wants to lead a luxurious life with all luxurious facilities but we all know there is no end of materialistic happiness.
  2.  Want to secure the life of children, grandchildren in terms of assets and wealth. Agree that no want to see his coming generation suffering due to lack of money.
  3.  I am not able to find any more reasons than the above two which can be the core reason of assimilating wealth.
But is this only the way to fulfill above desires………?
Is it morale to steal or thief the money intended for someone else…..?
Is it morale to damage country’s health or real talent by accepting or offering bribe….?

Someone said “If India live who will die and if India dies who will live”. Meaning, by corrupt ways you are killing India in making your future generation secured. Remember you are digging the graveyard for your children and grandchildren.

I am not against the dream of becoming rich and wealthier.  But becoming rich by stealing others money in various corrupt ways is not the only way. In this economic liberalized India there are so many ways and options to become rich and there are plenty of examples to support it.

At last I would like to say that may be whatever is said above is bhasan or lecture for many which should be heard from one ear and to be removed out from another.

You are safe today and are very much insulated from the law and investigating agency. You are happy because you know very well that whoever is responsible for investigation is also corrupt. The Indian court gives you ample time to remove or manipulate the proof against you.

But a day will come when someone on top level will be honest and aggressive, a day will come when their will be aggressive nongovernmental group or organization against corruption. That day onwards your life will be hell. May be you will be hanged or shot in the public. May be you will be punished in Talibani way. You will also see your children and grandchildren suffering in front of you and it will be only you who would be responsible for their miserable life.
Better come to the right track before the same happens otherwise don’t say that no one has warned you.

Who is Corrupt ? Me or You ...(Part II)

“Silence of good men is more dangerous than brutality of bad men” – Martin Luthar King
In part I of the above topic we recognized the faces of the corrupt people. We know that the corruption or corrupt people are either in my home or your home. The Vedas,  Puranas  or the spiritual gurus always  teach us that  a society is above family and the country is above society or religion. Indeed as an Indian it is our duty not only to combat the corruption prevailing in our home but also in the neighbors, society and country.
Here I have summarized some of the simple ways and tools to be used by common man to combat the corruption. I know you are thinking that I am going to say same old and rubbish things which are not going to put any impact at all.
Yes I too agree that in this country no big politicians or beaurocrats are ever punished. The trials are only eyewash for the people. The show-off dramas remains in light for some time and then it disappears somewhere.  After a long judicial trial it resurfaces as some historical knowledge for another generation of people. In the end most of them comes neat and clean.
But I have one point to share.
Some days before, I was watching a telgu movie “The Leader”. In the movie the Hero, Daggubati Rana, (He is chosen as the CM of the state due to the sudden death of his father who was the running CM of the state ) tries to pass anti-corruption bill which increase the purview of ACB (Anti –Corruption Bureau) in all departments and professionals  including Public Representatives i.e. MP, MLAs  etc.  So, as usual, most of the MLAs in the assembly stood against the bill as under this law they can also be prosecuted. He tried hard to persuade them but it was of no use.
An old man comes to him and says if you want to get the bill passed then exempt MLAs and politicians from them. The old man says that no one will agree to create law to prosecute themselves. Daggubati exempts the Politicians and MLAs from the law and the bill got passed in the house. The bill made the MLA s and politicians immune to the law. He goes to the old man and says that this bill is of no use. The old man explains him “When you catch hold of all the small fish, Sharks will be left with no food and they will panic”.
Yes I mean to say that may be at our level we will not be able to deal directly with big corrupts or corruption but we can surely fight and abolish corruption at our levels (it may be at small, mid or high level) and  hence big level corruptions will automatically collapse.
The below mentioned tools can be used if
You are irritated with the corrupt people related to your own work and want to teach a good lesson to the corrupt people.
You are really bothered with the issue of corruption and want to play an active role in eliminating corruption and want to see a corrupt free and developed India.

So, let us what are the tools available to us to combat corruption:
1.   Technology & Transparency:  This has been observed that whenever transparency and technology has come in, the corruption has declined. When people moved out from long queue and started to access things online then it was a big blow to the middleman or agents. Still most of India stands in queue only for their government related works. Instead of standing in the queue for any government related works, we should move for online process and at the same time encourage others to follow the same.

Website: http://india.gov.in/
This is the website of the government of India.
The section  “How Do I” is very important as it deals with our day to day useful things like obtaining PAN,TAN, Driving license or Voter’s card, Passport etc, registering Land/property, Vehicle etc. Track Court orders, exam results, speed post, agricultural market prices etc.

2.    Right To Information (RTI):  - As per this act every citizen has a right to know how the Government is functioning. Right to Information empowers every citizen to seek any information from the Government, inspect any Government documents and seek certified photocopies thereof. Some laws on Right to Information also empower citizens to official inspect any Government work or to take sample of material used in any work. Also, an applicant can ask for "reasons" behind an administrative or judicial decision of a public authority, especially if he is a "affected person".

To start with, get a brief idea on RTI through the “RTI Awareness Quiz” on the website.

3.    Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI): – CBI investigates serious crimes related to Defence of India, corruption in high places, serious fraud, cheating and social crime, particularly of hoarding, black-marketing and profiteering in essential commodities, having all-India and inter-state ramifications.
CBI can be approached by sending the information/complaint by post, by SMS from a mobile phone, by making a phone call to the concerned Branch, by sending e mails to its officers and by posting the information/complaint on this website. The informant/complainant can however, always request to keep their identity secret. CBI takes all the necessary care to ensure that identity of such persons is kept secret.
The identity of such informant is never put in writing in any record. It is not even disclosed to the courts. Courts also do not have powers to compel CBI to disclose the identity of the informant.

4.    Central Vigilance Commission (CVC): – The CVC is powered to receive written/oral complaints for disclosure on any allegations of corruption and misuse of public offices. If we find any corrupt official known or unknown to us then we can log the complaint there without us coming in to the picture. We can log our grievances in the grievance section on the website. If we find that some school or college authorities are misusing the government fund then we can log it as a grievance there. Similarly if the BDO, or any government appointed officers are not utilizing the government funds properly.

5.   Planning Commission :The Planning Commission is charged with the responsibility of making assessment of all resources of the country, augmenting deficient resources, formulating plans for the most effective and balanced utilization of resources and determining priorities.
Here also, we can give our complaints as grievances if we find that resources of the country are not utilized properly.

6.   The President of India: We can also log our grievances on the website of our president.
In some states Lokayukta is also active. This is also aimed to fight against corruption.
So these are some of the tools we have to combat corruption. Again I will say that we are only responsible for the corrupt India. Hence only we can make India corrupt free.

WHY BLOGGING.....?

Hello All,

After independence, we Indians have progressed a lot. Our name and deeds are known throughout the world. The urbanization has increased. But there is other side in which there are a lot of burning issues like Naxalism, Corruption, Castesim, Kashmir, Demand of State Division, Poverty, and Illiteracy and there are so many. For all these problems we are always blaming others and mostly politicians. I believe it is we only who have to make India free of all these things.

In my blogs, I have tried to address all the above issues. I have tried to find out how we all can do our part to make India free of all the burning issues.

Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Who is corrupt ...? Me or You (Part - I)

“Give me few men and women who are selfless and pure and I shall shake the foundation of the world.” This statement of Swami Vivekananda compels us to think that how scarce are the numbers of honest and selfless people.
Turning the pages of History we find that India has given the birth to saints, intellectuals, Philosophers who has sacrificed their lives for the sake of nation. Many remained bachelors only to give their complete attention in the growth of nation.
When India became free the total numbers of universities were around 20 and now today the count says that it’s more than 450.Enrollment in higher education rose from 1 lakhs to 2 crores. The number of highly educated people in India has increased tremendously.
All says that the corruption is inversely proportional to the growth of education and educated people.

Looking at the above figures, theoretically it indicates that the corruption would have decreased since independence. Let’s hold this thought for some moment and look what the figures says about the status of corruption in India.
  •  India was ranked at number one position in exporting corruption to other countries.
  •  In 2009, India is ranked 84th in the corruption Index. (From Transparency International survey).
  •  According to Corruption Perception Index 2009, India’s integrity score stands 3.4 on a scale of 0 to 10. (0 – perceived as highly corrupt and 10 – least corrupt)
If we compare the above 2 figures we find that with the growth of education in India the corruption has also increased. This means that education and educated people are not playing any proactive role to fight this menace. This is seen that that highly educated people are found connected in bigger scams and scandals.

There are so many things to talk on corruption but first let’s find out who is corrupt. Who is actually responsible for corruption….?

Everyone blames others. Mostly politicians, bureaucrats and government officials are blamed for the corruption in India.
In my opinion the country’s image is the reflection of the deeds of its own people. So I can say I and you make this country and hence either me or you are corrupt.
Let’s decide and make it clear now who is the culprit or corrupt….?

The mass opinion says that Politicians, Bureaucrats, Government employee and officials are corrupt and all those working in Private Firms like IT and BPO industries are very honest, hard working and sincere. (I really doubt whether these section of people are really honest or they do not have any chance to make their hand dirty.)
Now who are they whom we blame as corrupt…..?

When we were in school then in a class on an average we were 40 students.
Out of 40,
  1. 1 or 2 became IAS or IPS. Some 10-12 became government employees. 1-2 joined politics.
  2. Majority (around 15 – 18) opted IT or other private firms after  Engineering or MBA.
  3. Remaining ones are in others like medicine, tourism, business etc.
So, in a way our friends who opted for the IAS, IPS, government jobs and politics are responsible for corruption in the eyes of those who are in the jobs mentioned in the points 2 and 3 above.

If I am working in a private firm and you are working for public firm or as government officials then I am not corrupt but you are corrupt. In a way all my friends opted for jobs in point 1 are corrupt and responsible for India’s corruption.

This is also heard that already the government system is so corrupt that the new persons joining the system become corrupt only. Though they enter with the enthusiasm to change the system but they themselves get changed after some time.
Let’s accept this logic that the existing system is already so corrupt that the new joiners are also lost in the darkness only. Again the question is who is corrupt then….?
As per the above logic the individuals present in the existing system or whoever is running the systems are corrupt. Do you want to know who are they…?

I know them very well and I am very sure that you also know them very well.

The individuals present in the existing system may be my father, grandfather, mother, elder brother/sister, Uncle or Aunt. If they are not mine then yours because in this country someone from outside is not coming to make our system corrupt. Rather the survey data shows that Indians are spreading this disease in other parts of the world.

So, the best and easiest way to combat corruption is to start from our own home. I will not agree that a wife is not aware if her husband is corrupt. I will not accept that a son/daughter is not aware that his father, grandfather, mother or elder brother is bringing the extra money in the home through corrupt practices.
Start the heated and revolutionary argument in home only.
If you find that any of your relative is
  • bringing the bribed money in home.
  • Using Public office for Private benefit, (Favoring Relatives or Personal Friends),
  • Stealing Government Property
  • Using his power or authority in his own way, Spending Office hours in the home.
Have courage to say boldly that you are deviated from your path whether the person standing in front of you is your father, or any of your elders. Fix the corruption and corrupt person then and there.
If you are corrupt then don’t counter with the argument that everyone is doing the same. What’s the harm if I am also doing…? I can also give the same excuse and then others will also follow. With this logic the future can be well imagined.
This should be decided with firmness that I should not follow any corrupt practices and at the same time I will not allow any of my relatives, at my level best, to follow the same.

In conclusion, a nation is build by its own people. The behavior and attitude of the people is directly related to the impression of the country. If we are peace loving then India will be known as a peace loving nation.
Hence it can be said that if India is known as corrupt nation then either me or my relatives are corrupt or you and your relatives are corrupt i.e. we are known as corrupt.

MY LAND : MY LANGUAGE

Swami Vivekananda once said “The soil of India is my highest heaven”. Today, I do not know how many are of same opinion, in this materialistic world, where professionalism and individualism is found everywhere and in almost all.
Individuals are acquiring Green Card and feeling proud in getting abroad job placements.

Recently, I was watching NDTV and discussion was on language issues prevailing in India. The debate was what should be the link language of India. Some said English, some Hindi and some supported regional language.
I wished to be part of that debate to put my thoughts but that remained wish only.
So through this blog, I decided to put my thoughts to fulfill my wish but in other way.

Frankly speaking I was aware that as per our constitution Hindi is the national language of India till the MNS of the Maharashtra raised the language issue.
The question was raised on the nationality of the Hindi language. Several letters were circulating as chain mail which proved that Hindi is not the national language of India. It’s only the official language.
I also did some R&D on the same but I do not want to copy and paste the same thing here and to make you think about happenings in the history on the language.

Let’s talk about today and tomorrow only. Even though Hindi is not the national language of India, but International community is very well aware that several languages are spoken in India but Hindi is the national language here. Recently when Manmohan Singh visited US, then Barrack Obama welcomed him in Hindi “Aapka Sugat (Swagat) hai”. The world knows Hindi as the national language of India.
Yes, I admit that we should preserve and promote the heritage and culture of the place where we are born. If I were a Bengali, Marathi or Tamil, I would have given importance to the heritage of the state.
But, our first identity is that we are Indian first and then anything else. So to eradicate hatred among us Indians on the basis of language, the best solution in my opinion is summarized in below 3 points.

1. International language

Our Former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam once asked a 14 year old girl in Hyderabad about her dream. She replied “I want to live in a developed India”. Yes I too want to see India as the most powerful and peaceful nation of the world. We have to rock throughout the world.
English is the language with which we can communicate to the world.
We have accepted English as one of the official language because we have not to restrict ourselves rather we have to compete globally in every field. Today there are so many MNC companies in India only because India has largest number of people with English as the working language. I will not be wrong if I say that today this language gives bread and butter to many Indians.
Many times I have heard that English should be made as the national language but in doing so we will make comprise on our identity only for the sheer purpose of bread and butter. We should definitely know to write and speak fluent English because this will only come as a link language for the success on international platform may be on business, education etc. Every child in India should be taught English in their school as an international language.

2.National Language

What is national language…? A language which has connection with people and represents the national identity.
I agree that Hindi does not have any ancestral connection with the people of some states. I will say that India was actually born in 1947.Before this we all know how much divided we were and on which grounds. Moreover if we go and dig in to the past, I am sure there will be so many stuffs on which we can start fighting.
As per our constitution we do not have any language as our national language. But does this mean that we should not have any identity on the basis of national language.
So, shall we sit and do brainstorming that what should be our national language out of so many languages spoken in our country? If we go for this then in my opinion a big vote bank politics will start without any result. This may also lead to riots and hatred among us.
Today I find that Hindi is the only language which is spoken and understood by maximum Indians. This helps as link language among us. It is understood among the international community that here Hindi is our national language (example cited above). It is seen that even the people of different southern state communicate in Hindi or English. The Bollywood is very well penetrated in each part of India. So I want to say that instead of fighting and arguing and taking fresh decision on this we should accept Hindi as our national language.

3. Regional Language

After independence, the state boundaries were redrawn viewing language as an important, although by no means the sole factor. Other factors such as economic viability and geographical realities were taken in to account.
As I said above that we have the duty to preserve and promote the heritage prevailing throughout India. We all should think for the development of each and every state. Today people of some of the states are afraid that excessive migration from other states leads to the deterition of their infrastructure and culture and in some way this seems correct observing the burden on metropolitan cities.
So the question is how this should be addressed.
If we are moving for job from one city to another city then this becomes our responsibility to think for the city’s development also. As most of us who are working in Banglore, Pune or Bomaby do our job, came back to home, on weekend enjoy with friends in Pub, Disco, watching movies etc and take leave to celebrate the festivals in their native place .
I mean to say that we should also take part in the development and social work wherever we go. We should also cast our vote their to choose good leaders( If we have stayed in any state of India for more than 6 months then we are eligible to cast our vote their even if we do not have the voter card from that state. Have a cup of tea and visit www.jaagore.com. ) . If we find any infrastructure problem like dugs on the road, poor bridge then instead of depending on the locals only we should also report to the concerned department. We should also participate in the local festivals not only by watching but taking initiatives also. There are more we can do. These are just some general things.
This is the only way we can preserve our vast culture and avoid hatred among us based on linguistic ground. We should also try to learn the language of the place where we are staying because existence of different languages and dialects is also the uniqueness of our nation. Every language should be respected. None of the language should be forgotten.
We already have the system of three languages in our education system for each state.

It is we only who have to bring the change and move forward to make our beloved nation shine in the eyes of the world.
