Who is corrupt...? me or You..Part(III)

In the first part of the above topic we recognized the face of the corrupt person and in the second part came to know the available tools to fight corruption.

In this part, last but not the least, let us find out what can be the actual reasons for corruption.

There are two categories of people. One section has raised themselves above the basic struggles of life and another section is still struggling for the basic amenities of life or struggling to make their children fit in another category.

Some do robbery, cheap habits like stealing of money, mobile, belongings etc. In most of the cases these are the same sort of people who are struggling for the basic requirements in their life. Some of the people of this section are also forced to pick up gun to join Naxalism or sometimes they become the means for bigger corruption. They are forced to do corrupt activities to feed their stomach. These can be easily stopped by creating the employment and providing basic amenities.

However the worst is white collar corruption. This is increasing and cannot be resolved unless each individual address themselves. Howsoever the country makes progress, this will be always a big threat because this is something related to individual’s morality and responsibility.

I see in newspapers and news channels that they debate for some action to be taken by government or investigating agency against corrupt officials. But again I would like to know “To whom we are asking to take action..?” Today the situation is so bad that everyone is corrupt, right from the top to bottom.

Who will take action and against whom..? Is it that a corrupt person will take action against another corrupt person……?

Whatever let’s come to the main concern and the concern is why people want to accumulate much more than sufficient wealth

1.  Wants to lead a luxurious life with all luxurious facilities but we all know there is no end of materialistic happiness.
2.  Want to secure the life of children, grandchildren in terms of assets and wealth. Agree that no want to see his coming generation suffering due to lack of money.
3.  I am not able to find any more reasons than the above two which can be the core reason of assimilating wealth.

But is this only the way to fulfill above desires………?

Is it morale to steal or thief the money intended for someone else…..?

Is it morale to damage country’s health or real talent by accepting or offering bribe….?

Someone said “If India live who will die and if India dies who will live”. Meaning, by corrupt ways you are killing India in making your future generation secured. Remember you are digging the graveyard for your children and grandchildren.

I am not against the dream of becoming rich and wealthier.  But becoming rich by stealing others money in various corrupt ways is not the only way. In this economic liberalized India there are so many ways and options to become rich and there are plenty of examples to support it.

At last I would like to say that may be whatever is said above is bhasan or lecture for many which should be heard from one ear and to be removed out from another.

You are safe today and are very much insulated from the law and investigating agency. You are happy because you know very well that whoever is responsible for investigation is also corrupt. The Indian court gives you ample time to remove or manipulate the proof against you.

But a day will come when someone on top level will be honest and aggressive, a day will come when their will be aggressive nongovernmental group or organization against corruption. That day onwards your life will be hell. May be you will be hanged or shot in the public. May be you will be punished in Talibani way. You will also see your children and grandchildren suffering in front of you and it will be only you who would be responsible for their miserable life.

Better come to the right track before the same happens otherwise don’t say that no one has warned you.

Who is Corrupt ? Me or You ...(Part II)

In part I of the above topic we recognized the faces of the corrupt people. We know that the corruption or corrupt people are either in my home or your home. The Vedas,  Puranas  or the spiritual gurus always  teach us that  a society is above family and the country is above society or religion. Indeed as an Indian it is our duty not only to combat the corruption prevailing in our home but also in the neighbors, society and country.

Here I have summarized some of the simple ways and tools to be used by common man to combat the corruption. I know you are thinking that I am going to say same old and rubbish things which are not going to put any impact at all.

Yes I too agree that in this country no big politicians or beaurocrats are ever punished. The trials are only eyewash for the people. The show-off dramas remains in light for some time and then it disappears somewhere.  After a long judicial trial it resurfaces as some historical knowledge for another generation of people. In the end most of them comes neat and clean.
But I have one point to share.

Some days before, I was watching a telgu movie “The Leader”. In the movie the Hero, Daggubati Rana, (He is chosen as the CM of the state due to the sudden death of his father who was the running CM of the state ) tries to pass anti-corruption bill which increase the purview of ACB (Anti –Corruption Bureau) in all departments and professionals  including Public Representatives i.e. MP, MLAs  etc.  So, as usual, most of the MLAs in the assembly stood against the bill as under this law they can also be prosecuted. He tried hard to persuade them but it was of no use.

An old man comes to him and says if you want to get the bill passed then exempt MLAs and politicians from them. The old man says that no one will agree to create law to prosecute themselves. Daggubati exempts the Politicians and MLAs from the law and the bill got passed in the house. The bill made the MLA s and politicians immune to the law. He goes to the old man and says that this bill is of no use. The old man explains him “When you catch hold of all the small fish, Sharks will be left with no food and they will panic”.

Yes I mean to say that may be at our level we will not be able to deal directly with big corrupts or corruption but we can surely fight and abolish corruption at our levels (it may be at small, mid or high level) and  hence big level corruptions will automatically collapse.

The below mentioned tools can be used if

 You are irritated with the corrupt people related to your own work and want to teach a good lesson to the corrupt people.

 You are really bothered with the issue of corruption and want to play an active role in eliminating corruption and want to see a corrupt free and developed India.

So, let us what are the tools available to us to combat corruption:

1.   Technology & Transparency:  This has been observed that whenever transparency and technology has come in, the corruption has declined. When people moved out from long queue and started to access things online then it was a big blow to the middleman or agents. Still most of India stands in queue only for their government related works. Instead of standing in the queue for any government related works, we should move for online process and at the same time encourage others to follow the same.

 The section  “How Do I” is very important as it deals with our day to day useful things like obtaining PAN,TAN, Driving license or Voter’s card, Passport etc, registering Land/property, Vehicle etc. Track Court orders, exam results, speed post, agricultural market prices etc.

2.    Right To Information (RTI):  - As per this act every citizen has a right to know how the Government is functioning. Right to Information empowers every citizen to seek any information from the Government, inspect any Government documents and seek certified photocopies thereof. Some laws on Right to Information also empower citizens to official inspect any Government work or to take sample of material used in any work. Also, an applicant can ask for "reasons" behind an administrative or judicial decision of a public authority, especially if he is a "affected person".

3.    Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI): – CBI investigates serious crimes related to Defence of India, corruption in high places, serious fraud, cheating and social crime, particularly of hoarding, black-marketing and profiteering in essential commodities, having all-India and inter-state ramifications.

CBI can be approached by sending the information/complaint by post, by SMS from a mobile phone, by making a phone call to the concerned Branch, by sending e mails to its officers and by posting the information/complaint on this website. The informant/complainant can however, always request to keep their identity secret. CBI takes all the necessary care to ensure that identity of such persons is kept secret.

The identity of such informant is never put in writing in any record. It is not even disclosed to the courts. Courts also do not have powers to compel CBI to disclose the identity of the informant.

4.    Central Vigilance Commission (CVC): – The CVC is powered to receive written/oral complaints for disclosure on any allegations of corruption and misuse of public offices. If we find any corrupt official known or unknown to us then we can log the complaint there without us coming in to the picture. We can log our grievances in the grievance section on the website. If we find that some school or college authorities are misusing the government fund then we can log it as a grievance there. Similarly if the BDO, or any government appointed officers are not utilizing the government funds properly.

5.   Planning Commission :The Planning Commission is charged with the responsibility of making assessment of all resources of the country, augmenting deficient resources, formulating plans for the most effective and balanced utilization of resources and determining priorities.

Here also, we can give our complaints as grievances if we find that resources of the country are not utilized properly.

6.   The President of India: We can also log our grievances on the website of our president.

In some states Lokayukta is also active. This is also aimed to fight against corruption.

So these are some of the tools we have to combat corruption. Again I will say that we are only responsible for the corrupt India. Hence only we can make India corrupt free.
